New Floors

Material selection & design

We work with customers to select materials and come up with the most beautiful custom designs imaginable. We love it when we get to mix-species and create decorative patterns to create focal points in your home. Floors shape the character and impact of every room, these details matter and we can help you refine and accomplish your vision.

Installation

We can pick up and deliver materials for smaller projects, or work with vendors on our customer’s behalf to accept delivery of materials to the site. Acclimatization is a critical step in installation wood needs to adjust to your homes’ humidity and temperature for about a week prior to install.

We will prepare your subfloor by sanding seams and ensuring level. Complete removal of existing flooring if necessary and inspecting the surface as we go to make sure your new floor will lay properly and last for a long time.

Finishing

We usually use water-based, eco-friendly, finishes. We can also use Sweedish oil-based finishes. There are nearly endless options with finishes and we will consult with you to make these decisions.

Engineered & Laminate Floors

While we specialize in hardwoods, we also install engineered and laminate flooring. This can be a great choice for certain applications and can save money in material and installation.

Remodeling

Adding to an existing floor

This is also known as “lacing in”. The goal here is to add new wood to an existing floor resulting in a seamless transition between new and old. There are several factors to consider if you want to lace in a floor: age of existing floor (grain patterns are different in older woods), availability of matching materials, non-standard board width and / or length.

Refinishing

Tired of that overly dark floor sucking all the light out of your room? Real wood floors can be sanded and stained pretty much any way you like. Older damaged boards can be replaced and brand new life can be given to a floor that’s just not quite what you’re wanting today.

Demolition

Removal of old wood and carpeting and making dump runs is part of every job. We’ll handle this part for additional dump fees.

Construction Consulting – We can do small repairs to sub-floors during a routine floor install. However there’s a certain point at which damage may be beyond our scope of work. We can help you find a qualified carpenter and consult with them on repairs which need to be made.

Stair Cases

Stair cases need to be evaluated on-site, each one is unique and provides its own set of challenges. Berkeley Hardwood Floors provides a free in-person consultation and if you have a stair case, the consultation is and absolute must to have an informed conversation.
